After sustained, heightened anxiety stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic, I employ creativity as an agent for my recovery. I seek simple sights defined by quiet spaces, strong light and shapes in familiar surroundings. These details would have previously evoked sadness in me. I notice my shift in perspective; scenes that would have once struck fear, fueling panic (the passing of time marked by changing light or amassing dirty laundry) become a moment for pause. I bleach my melancholy mind with sunlight. I brighten these mundane scenes to liven my spirits. These photographs offer hope that the future will bring happiness.
